  • .95 lbs Melanoidin Malt

    Melanoidin Malt

  • .25 lbs Belgian Biscuit

    Belgian Biscuit

    Warm baked biscuit flavor and aroma. Increases body. Use in Belgian beers.

  • .25 lbs Munich 10L Malt; Briess

    Munich 10L Malt; Briess

    Robust malty flavor. Characteristics & Applications: • Adds a pronounced malty flavor without adding non-fermentables or affecting foam. • Small amounts added to the grist will improve the malty flavor and give a richer color to low gravity brews. • Produced from AMBA/BMBRI recommended 6-Row Malting Barley varieties.

  • 6.5 lbs Liquid Light Extract

    Liquid Light Extract

    A brewer can create any beer style with this extract when used as a base in conjunction with colored malts and selected hops. Contains no colored malts or hops.

  • 1 lbs Honey

    Imparts sweet and dry taste. For honey and brown ales. Also: specialty ales.

  • 1 oz Tettnanger - 4.5 AA% pellets; boiled 60 min

    Spicy, Medium to Heavy.Very strong bittering ability used in all American ales and lagers. Aroma is very floral.

    Slight residual diacetyl and fruitiness; great for stouts. Clean, smooth, soft and full-bodied.

Ale Consumed during Solstice celebration on 12/18/09

Deep red, unfortunate copper/tannin aroma overwhelms, sweet honey up front then rich and malty with a dry toasted finish, medium body, medium head. Overall a good ale that needs some improvements on its way to five stars.
