Ingredients (Extract5.5 gal)

  • 1 lbs Maris Otter Pale

    Maris Otter Pale

An English thoroughbred and a favored choice of malt for many brewers. Simpsons' Maris Otter has a rich and nutty flavor and despite its small, berry size has a strong husk. This malt delivers predictable brewhouse performance with modest, yet consistent extracts. Brewers can expect good runoffs with clear wort.

  • .5 lbs Crystal Malt 60°L

    Crystal Malt 60°L

Sweet caramel flavor, deep golden to red color. For dark amber and brown ales.

  • .125 lbs Roasted Barley

    Roasted Barley

Sweet, grainy, coffee flavor and a red to deep brown color. For porters and stouts.

  • 6.5 lbs Liquid Light Extract

    Liquid Light Extract

A brewer can create any beer style with this extract when used as a base in conjunction with colored malts and selected hops. Contains no colored malts or hops.

  • 1 oz East Kent Goldings - 5.5 AA% pellets; boiled 60 min

    East Kent Goldings

    Mild, slightly flowery.

  • Wyeast 1084 Irish Ale™

    Wyeast 1084 Irish Ale™

Slight residual diacetyl and fruitiness; great for stouts. Clean, smooth, soft and full-bodied.

Notes

WYeast 1056 would be second choice for yeast. Ideally looking for a hop @ 6.3% AA - (4.8-7.8) Preference would be East Kent Goldings, Fuggles, Challenger.
