Ingredients (All Grain5 gal)

  • 10 lbs American 2-row

    American 2-row

Yields a slightly higher extract than Six Rox brewers Malt. Tends to give a smoother, less grainy flavored beer. Some brewers claim they can detect a significant difference in flavor. Lower protein and will yield a lower color than Six-Row Brewers Malt

  • 1 lbs Belgian Cara-Pils

    Belgian Cara-Pils

Significantly increases foam/head retention and body of the beer.

  • .33 lbs Belgian Biscuit

    Belgian Biscuit

Warm baked biscuit flavor and aroma. Increases body. Use in Belgian beers.

  • .5 lbs Maris Otter Pale

    Maris Otter Pale

An English thoroughbred and a favored choice of malt for many brewers. Simpsons' Maris Otter has a rich and nutty flavor and despite its small, berry size has a strong husk. This malt delivers predictable brewhouse performance with modest, yet consistent extracts. Brewers can expect good runoffs with clear wort.

    Tettnanger

    Mild, slightly spicy. 'Noble'.

  • .5 oz Tettnanger - 5.0 AA% whole; boiled 45 min

  • 2 oz Cascade - 8.5 AA% whole; boiled 0 min

    Cascade

Spicy with citrus notes. Slightly grapefruity.

  • 1 tsp Irish Moss - (omitted from calculations)

    Irish Moss

  • 1 tbsp Bitter Orange Peel - (omitted from calculations)

    Bitter Orange Peel

  • BrewTek CL-380 Saison

    BrewTek CL-380 Saison

This yeast leaves a smooth, full character in the malt, with mild yet pleasant esters and flavors reminiscent of apple pie spices. Best used to recreate country French and Belgian Ales as well as Grand Cru styles.

Notes

IPA with big Cascade dry hop aroma. Bitter orange peel adds a citrus twang. Very good IPA.
