Enhanced Irish Moss in convenient tablet form
- 1 tsp
Wyeast Nutrient - Boiled 15 min. (omitted from calculations)
Wyeast Nutrient
Although wort is a good growth medium for yeast, additional Wyeast Nutrient will reduce lag time, improve yeast viability and provide consistent attenuation rates. Low assimilable nitrogen concentrations (FAN) of grape must or wort have long been known as a cause of sluggish or stuck fermentations. Wyeast yeast nutrient, a blend of vitamin B's, minerals, inorganic nitrogen (DAP), organic nitrogen (amino acids), zinc, phosphates and other trace elements will benefit yeast growth and carbohydrate uptake for a more rapid, complete fermentation. Use 1/4 tsp per pint for beer propagation, 1 tsp per 5 gallons for wine or beer fermentation or 1.5 oz per 10 barrels for beer fermentation.

Yet another IPA... Final addition of boil hops were added using a hopback. Small amount of Mosaic & Columbus added to fermenter pre-fermentation.
looks like a good recipe

looks good .. let me know how it turns out ... I like that you kept the SRM below 6 ,,, something I'm thinking about doing myself
Agreed...

I've been on a trend of making IPAs lighter and lighter in color and each one seems to be better. Not to mention all the amazing commercial IPAs that are super light in color, often with no crystal malt. I was really happy with how this recipe turned out. It all depends on the hops though... the quality and freshness before they get into the hands of the brewer. Unfortunately this is something we don't really have much control over and it's probably the single most important factor in making a really great IPA these days.
I used to grow my own LOL

I used to grow about 5 varieties of hops , but in the region I live in only 2 grew well . Then there was the problem with guess the IBU . After a few batches you could kind of educated guess what you need to get close to what you want, But it always frustrated me not knowing exactly what the IBU was , so I began to only use them for inflame out or dry hoping . I'm definitely going to try my hand at a low SRM IPA . Cheers Friend
