This is my slight adjustment to a Smuttynose Big A IPA inspired brew.

Ingredients (All Grain5.12 gal)

  • 11 lbs Maris Otter Pale Ale Malt; Thomas Fawcett

    Maris Otter Pale Ale Malt; Thomas Fawcett

    A principal ingredient of cask ales using heritage barleys.

  • 4.75 lbs Pilsner Malt; Rahr

    Pilsner Malt; Rahr

    A principal ingredient of cask ales using heritage barleys.

  • 1 oz Warrior® - 16.0 AA% whole; boiled 45 min

    Warrior®

    New hop with much potential. Very stable.

  • 1 oz Cascade - 7.0 AA% whole; boiled 70 min

    Cascade

    Spicy with citrus notes. Slightly grapefruity.

  • 1 oz Horizon - 12.0 AA% whole; boiled 25 min

    Horizon

    Pedigree A diploid high alpha, low co-humulone selection. Cross made in Oregon in 1970, half-sister of Nugget. Typical Beer Styles All Ales and Lagers.

  • 1 oz Centennial - 10.0 AA% whole; boiled 15 min

    Centennial

    Aromatic but acceptable for bittering. Medium aroma with floral and citrus tones. Good in medium to dark ales.

  • 2 oz Crystal - 3.2 AA% whole; boiled 5 min

    Crystal

    Mild. 'Noble'. Used mainly for its aroma which is mild and pleasant.

  • 1 oz Citra® - 12.0 AA% whole; added dry to secondary fermenter

    Citra®

    Citra™ is a special aroma hop variety developed by the Hop Breeding Company (a joint venture between John I. Haas, Inc. and Select Botanicals Group, LLC). It was released in 2007. Citra™ has fairly high alpha acids and total oil contents with a low percentage of cohumulone content. The variety imparts interesting citrus and tropical fruit characters to beer.

  • 1 oz Ahtanum® - 6.0 AA% whole; added dry to secondary fermenter

    Good for lagers, american ales, Floral. citrus, sharp and piney.

  • 1 oz Crystal - 3.2 AA% whole; added dry to secondary fermenter

    Mild. 'Noble'. Used mainly for its aroma which is mild and pleasant.

  • Wyeast 1056 American Ale™

    Wyeast 1056 American Ale™

    Used commercially for several classic American ales. This strain ferments dry, finishes soft, smooth and dean, and is very well balanced.
