C.C.C.P. Imperial Soviet Stout

Russian Imperial Stout • Extract • 5 gal

Todd,Basically throwing in everything that I have left over from other batches. With my small kitchen setup, I ended up with an O.G. of 1.133...! Please e-mail me at bis9170@hotmail.com if you have similar results, or have any other comments/suggestions. (FYI: CCCP is what used to be the U.S.S.R, if it were written in Cyrilic).

Use in all types to adjust color and add nutty, toasted flavor. Chocolate flavor.

  • 1.0 lbs Black Roasted Barley

    Black Roasted Barley

Unmalted roasted grain, it is the backbone of many stouts. Imparts a sharp acrid flavor characteristic of dry stouts. Gives "dryness" to a stout or porter ,more so than regular Roasted Barley.

  • 7.75 lbs Dry Dark Extract

    Dry Dark Extract

Used predominantly in the production of dark beers such as milds, browns, porters, and stouts.

Imparts rich, sweet flavor. Use in Scottish ales, old ales and holiday beers.

  • 1.5 oz Eroica - 9.0 AA% pellets; boiled 60 min

    Eroica

Mainly used for bittering and good aroma for pale ales and dark ales, and also stouts. The aroma is quite strong but not unpleasant.

  • 1.5 oz Galena - 12.0 AA% pellets; boiled 20 min

    Galena

Neutral. This hop can be very bitter, but blends well with finishing hops. Used in American ales and lagers, but suitable for all beer styles. Aroma is medium but pleasant.

  • 1.0 oz Whitbread Golding (WGV) - 6.0 AA% pellets; boiled 5 min

    Whitbread Golding (WGV)

Traditional English hop with a sweet and fruity aroma.

  • 2.00 tsp Irish Moss - (omitted from calculations)

    Irish Moss

  • White Labs WLP004 Irish Stout

    White Labs WLP004 Irish Stout

This is the yeast from one of the oldest stout producing breweries in the world. It produces a slight hint of diacetyl, balanced by a light frui|iness and slight dry crispness. Great for Irish ales, stouts, porters, browns, reds and a very interesting pal
