I am trying to make a "Duvel" clone. I followed what guidlines I could gather from Michael Jackson's "The Great Beers of Belgium." I'll add more comments after it's done.

Ingredients (All Grain5 gal)

  • 11 lbs Belgian Pale

    Belgian Pale

    Fully modified and is easily converted.

  • 1 lbs Belgian Wheat Malt

    Belgian Wheat Malt

    Malted wheat for use in Wheat beers.

  • .5 lbs Dextrine Malt

    Dextrine Malt

    In light-colored beers to give additional body. Adds richness without color.

  • 1.25 lbs Candi Sugar Clear

    Candi Sugar Clear

    Smooth taste, good head retention, sweet aroma and high gravity without being apparent. Use in Belgian and holiday ales. Use clear for tripels, amber for dubbels, and dark is used in brown beer and strong golden ales.

  • 1.4 oz Saaz - 3.6 AA% pellets; boiled 100 min

    Saaz

    Used for finishing pilseners, continental lagers, and wheats. The aroma is spicy and pleasant with fragrant overtones.

  • .5 oz Styrian Goldings - 6.0 AA% whole; boiled 15 min

    Styrian Goldings

    Mild, pleasant.

  • Wyeast 1388 Belgian Strong Ale™

    Wyeast 1388 Belgian Strong Ale™

    Robust flavor yeast with moderate to high alcohol tolerance. Fruity nose and palate, dry, tart finish.
