Notes

Steeped grains in 2 gal for 1 hour @ 155f. Cooled Sparged with 1 gal @ 180f then added extracts and maintained temp at 180 for 30 min. Brought to rapid boil for 1 hour following hop schedule and added Irish Moss @ 45min. Pured hot wort over 10 lbs of ice then diluted to 6 gal and cooled to 75fI was going for a smoked porter and the small amount of roasted barley and chocolate malt lends an awesome light smokey flavor and the oatmeal lends a nice mouthy feel. Racked to secondary after 4 days. Bottled after2 weeks in secondary. Tasted at 1 week and was ok but WOW after 2 weeks in bottle. OG 1.052 FG 1.022 Not necessarily typical values for a Porter as far as hops and gravity are concerned but this beer was well worth making. I WILL make this again....soon!
