Notes
The "Rice Raw" is actually wild rice (duh). The 40 minutet hop addition is actually FWH. The wild rice is ground up and mashed in a cereal mash with 2/3 lb of the pale malt at 1 gal/lb. Mash at 158F for 20 minutes and then boil for one hour. Then add to main mash and mash at 153F for one hour.

I brewed this on July 18, 2009. I pretty much made this recipe up myself, with help from an article in BYO on wild rice and other internet resources.
Rave Reviews

I have had several favorable reviews of this beer, including a few raves. I had been planning to brew this once a year, but now I think I'm going to have to do another one in early spring. I hope this encourages me to enter it into a competetion (I've never competed before). I think for next time I'd eliminate the carapils and reduce or eliminate the carahell as well. I am hesitant to make any changes at all, though, given all the favorable feedback I've been getting on this beer.
