Ingredients (All Grain10 gal)

  • 17 lbs German 2-row Pils

  • 2.00 lbs German Wheat Malt Light

    Typical top fermented aroma, produces superb wheat beers.

  • .5 lbs Honey Malt

    Honey Malt

    Nutty honey flavor. For brown ales, Belgian wheats, bocks and many other styles.

  • 2.0 oz Fuggle - 4.8 AA% whole; boiled 60 min

    Mild. Mainly used for finishing and dry hopping especially pale ales, porters, and stouts. Aroma is mild and pleasant, spicy, and soft.

  • 1.00 oz Tettnanger - 4.5 AA% whole; boiled 15 min

    Mild, slightly spicy. 'Noble'.

Notes

Started 1 yeast tube ~24 hours in advance in 1/2 gallon (growler) of 1.050 wort made from light pilsen dry extract. Chilled starter~ 3 hours before racking to settle yeast out. Mashed at 150F for 1 hour. Mash drifted to 148F by end of hour. Drained off wort, batch sparged up to 11 gallons. Boiled for 1 hour, chilled and racked to primary. ~10 gallons of 1.050 wort. Decanted ~75% of starter off, swirled yeast, split and added to fermenters (fermented in 2X 5 gallon glass carboys). Fermentation started within 5 hours of pitching yeast. ---------------------------- Gravity was 1.012 after 5 days of fermentation at ~65F. Racked to secondary. ------------------ Airlocks stopped bubbling after 5 days in secondary. --------------------
