Ingredients (All Grain, 5.5 gal)
- 2.25 lbs
American 6-row Pale
American 6-row Pale
Tends to increase lautering efficiency due to a stiffer husk. May be used as the base malt for any beer style. The enzymes in all varieties of the current crop are sufficient to support high percentages of specialty malts and adjuncts.
- 1 lbs
American 2-row
American 2-row
Yields a slightly higher extract than Six Rox brewers Malt. Tends to give a smoother, less grainy flavored beer. Some brewers claim they can detect a significant difference in flavor. Lower protein and will yield a lower color than Six-Row Brewers Malt
- 0.5 lbs
Munich Malt
Munich Malt
Sweet, toasted flavor and aroma. For Oktoberfests and malty styles
- 0.25 lbs
Belgian Cara-Pils
Belgian Cara-Pils
Significantly increases foam/head retention and body of the beer.
- 1.5 lbs
Rice Raw
Rice Raw
Lightens flavor without taste. Use in American and Asian lagers.
- .5 oz
Tettnanger - 4.5 AA% pellets; boiled 50 min
Tettnanger
Mild, slightly spicy. 'Noble'.
-
Wyeast 2035 American Lager™
Wyeast 2035 American Lager™
Bold, complex and aromatic, good depth of flavor characteristics for a variety of lager beers.
Notes
I made this lager as an Ale with Danstar's Nottingham yeast It is a bit hoppy in flavor but it is really good for a light Ale

little flavor

This has too little flavor for my family and friends to enjoy. Would have been better with a little more hops.
You gotta be kidding

I can't understand why anyone would drink this.
why not?

wow, full of yourself much? I'm glad someone is brewing the beer HE likes instead of whatever touched-by-the-gods loony juice you drink.
Lot of 6-Row for the grain bill...

Curious... At around 40% of the bill being 6-row, Did you have any problems with chill haze? I'm also assuming that you precooked the rice or used ready to mash rice flakes?
not quite what I expected

I made this for a friend who likes the very light lagers and it was still to hoppy and had flavors she was not use to. I'm finding she like the wheat beers much better. I haven't brewed this one again. The rice brings up the alcohol without additional flavors and worked quite well. It is a bit cloudy but so is heaven.
