Maple Porter
Robust Porter • All Grain • 5.5 gal
This was my shot at a Maple porter; loosely based on (more like inspired by) Jamil's Robust porter recipe.

Ingredients (All Grain, 5.5 gal)
- 5 lbs
American 2-row
American 2-row
Yields a slightly higher extract than Six Rox brewers Malt. Tends to give a smoother, less grainy flavored beer. Some brewers claim they can detect a significant difference in flavor. Lower protein and will yield a lower color than Six-Row Brewers Malt
- 1 lbs
Weyermann CaraMunich® III; Weyermann
Weyermann CaraMunich® III; Weyermann
Provides body. For Oktoberfest, bock, porter, stout, red, amber and brown ales.
- 1.5 lbs
Melanoidin Malt
Melanoidin Malt
Red Ales
- .5 lbs
American Black Patent
American Black Patent
Provides color and sharp flavor in stouts and porters.
- .5 lbs
Chocolate Wheat Malt
Chocolate Wheat Malt
Intensifies aroma; improves color. For dark ales, alt, dark wheat, stout and porter.
- 3 lbs
Maple Syrup
Maple Syrup
Imparts a dry, woodsy flavor if used in the boil. If beer is bottled with it, it gives it a smooth sweet, maple taste. Use in maple ales, pale ales, brown ales and porters.
- 1 oz
Hallertauer Tradition - 6.0 AA% pellets; boiled 60 min
Hallertauer Tradition
Fine, 'Noble'.

Lallemand 3767 Windsor
Lallemand 3767 Windsor
Estery to palate and nose, slight fresh yeast flavor. Ales are described as full-bodied, fruity English Ales.
Notes
I chose an english ale yeast, and fermented cool to keep the attenuation down (with all that syrup in there, this one is all about the residual sugars). This is nevertheless a little thin & dry IMO; next time I'll increase the caramunich & melanoidin. Some crystal 60 might also be a nice addition.
