Classic American Pilsner • All Grain • 5 gal

Meant to be a Pilsner, but the local store didn't have the right hops or yeast, thus the bastard. In the primary as we speak, mashed for 60 minutes.

Ingredients (All Grain5 gal)

  • 8 lbs German 2-row Pils

    German 2-row Pils

  • 1 lbs American Vienna

    American Vienna

    Increases malty flavor, provides balance. Use in Vienna, Märzen and Oktoberfest.

  • .5 lbs American Munich

    American Munich

    Munich Dunkels. Adds color/nutty flavor. Sometimes called Aromatic.

  • .5 lbs Belgian Cara-Pils

    Belgian Cara-Pils

    Significantly increases foam/head retention and body of the beer.

  • 1 oz Cascade - 6.9 AA% pellets; boiled 60 min

    Spicy with citrus notes. Slightly grapefruity.

  • 0.6 oz Lublin - 3.1 AA% pellets; boiled 15 min

    Lublin

    Mild. 'Noble'.

  • 0.4 oz Lublin - 3.1 AA% pellets; boiled 1 min

    Mild. 'Noble'.

This started out as a pilsner, but turned in to more of an American Light Amber.
