Ingredients (All Grain5 gal)

  • 10 lbs American 2-row

    American 2-row

Yields a slightly higher extract than Six Rox brewers Malt. Tends to give a smoother, less grainy flavored beer. Some brewers claim they can detect a significant difference in flavor. Lower protein and will yield a lower color than Six-Row Brewers Malt

  • 1 lbs American Caramel 20°L

    American Caramel 20°L

Provides color, body, and contributes to foam retention and beer stability.

  • 1 oz Galena - 13.0 AA% pellets; boiled 60 min

    Galena

Neutral. This hop can be very bitter, but blends well with finishing hops. Used in American ales and lagers, but suitable for all beer styles. Aroma is medium but pleasant.

  • 1 oz Cascade - 5.5 AA% pellets; boiled 15 min

    Cascade

Spicy with citrus notes. Slightly grapefruity.

  • Wyeast 1056 American Ale™

    Wyeast 1056 American Ale™

Used commercially for several classic American ales. This strain ferments dry, finishes soft, smooth and dean, and is very well balanced.

It was surprisingly delicious

This was a very delicious beer, it was meant to be a tasting of just the base grain and hops, to see what other grains and adjuncts would later do to the taste. But on its own, it is a very tasty beer (almost a light beer taste...dreaded I know.) Perfect refreshing beer for that hot summer day, after sweating in the yard.
