Brewed 5/3/08
2008-05-05 6:43pm
Brewed it. Used 1 gal tap water, 4 gal spring water, 4 gal "drinking" water. Used 1/8 tsp Burton Water salts. I took the dregs from the growler that I got from Turtle Mountain and grew up the yeast to a pitchable amount. I pitched about 2 liters into this batch so I'm actually using the same yeast that Turtle Mountain used for their IPA. I was shooting for 1.060 on this beer, but I had the mash efficiency too high when I formulated the recipe and ended up with an OG of 1.058. #64
Dry Hopped 5/11/08
2008-05-16 2:23pm
My last few batches have been dry hopped in the keg, but I think I'm getting some perfumy hop aromas with this method so on this beer I went back to adding the hops directly to the primary for about a week. During this time I'm swirling the hops back into suspension every day.
Kegged 5/20/08

Kegged it tonight and I'm still blown away by how awesome this beer turned out. It's SO close to the Turtle Mountain beer that I was trying to clone. I think my hops are just slightly different from theirs, but it's extremely close. Also, using their yeast definitely made a difference and it really tastes like one of their beers. I'm really in awe of this beer right now. SO TASTY! :::drool:::
Wow

I just wanted to add that this is one of the best beers I've ever brewed... perhaps THE best. I really couldn't be happier with it. I will probably brew this again very soon and make a 10 gallon batch out of it. This one is going to disappear quick!
