This one turned out really nice. The color is a really dark brown that looks black at first but is definitely brown. Has a really enjoyable and subtle chocolate malt flavor finished with the character of Fuggle hops. The English yeast added an underlying fruityness that really seems to fit the style. It's a nice easy drinking beer that doesn't overwhelm your senses and doesn't have too much alcohol either. Very happy with this batch.
1st place!

This beer took first place in my club-only competition last night 3/4/08 and will be forwarded on to the Nationals. As a relatively new brewer, it was great to get confirmation that one of the beers I was enjoying was actually enjoyed by others and even judged to be a well-brewed example of the style.
Brewed again 6/29/08

Yep, brewed it again. Came in a little low on the OG at 1.051. Other than that, looks good. #72
