Ingredients (All Grain5 gal)

  • 10 lbs Maris Otter Pale

    Maris Otter Pale

An English thoroughbred and a favored choice of malt for many brewers. Simpsons' Maris Otter has a rich and nutty flavor and despite its small, berry size has a strong husk. This malt delivers predictable brewhouse performance with modest, yet consistent extracts. Brewers can expect good runoffs with clear wort.

  • 1 lbs American Vienna

    American Vienna

Increases malty flavor, provides balance. Use in Vienna, Märzen and Oktoberfest.

  • .75 lbs American Caramel 30°L

    American Caramel 30°L

Provides color, body, and contributes to foam retention and beer stability.

  • 1 oz Simcoe® - 13.2 AA% whole; boiled 60 min

    Simcoe®

Used for aromatic, and especially bittering properties.

  • 2 oz Cascade - 6.0 AA% whole; boiled 30 min

    Cascade

Spicy with citrus notes. Slightly grapefruity.

  • Wyeast 1056 American Ale™

    Wyeast 1056 American Ale™

Used commercially for several classic American ales. This strain ferments dry, finishes soft, smooth and dean, and is very well balanced.

2nd best?

this is an absolutely delicious ipa obviously inspired by the stone brewing co. ipa....aroma is the best part of this ipa...smells like fresh handpicked flowers, not overwhelming, followed by a similar bitterness...this is the 2nd best ipa i have tasted on the west coast, behind only stone...
