OMG This a an amazing beer, one of my staple brews, I have brewed this several times and shared it with many neighbors and friends everyone loves it. The final 5 minutes of the boil smells absolutely incredible!

Ingredients (All Grain5.5 gal)

  • 4.5 lbs Belgian Pils

    Belgian Pils

    Pilsner style malted barley grain.

  • 4.5 lbs Midwest Wheat Malt

    Midwest Wheat Malt

    Light flavor and creamy head. For American weizenbier, weissbier and dunkelweiss.

  • .75 lbs Oats Flaked

    Oats Flaked

    Belgian White Ale(wit), other specialty beers.

  • .75 lbs Barley Flaked

    Barley Flaked

    Helps head retention, imparts creamy smoothness. For porters and stouts.

  • .376 oz Northern Brewer - 9.3 AA% whole; boiled 60 min

    Northern Brewer

    Used for bittering with strong flavors and very fragrant in steam beers, dark English ales, and German lagers. Aroma is medium-strong with evergreen and mint overtones.

  • .5 oz Goldings - 4.9 AA% whole; boiled 15 min

    Mild. Slightly flowery.

  • .25 oz Crystal - 3.5 AA% whole; boiled 5 min

    Mild. 'Noble'. Used mainly for its aroma which is mild and pleasant.

  • .25 oz Goldings - 4.9 AA% whole; boiled 5 min

    Mild. Slightly flowery.

  • 1 oz Coarse ground corriander - (omitted from calculations)

  • 7 g Chamomile - (omitted from calculations)

  • 1 oz Zest of two oranges - (omitted from calculations)

  • 1/4 tsp Trub clear - (omitted from calculations)

  • Wyeast 1007 German Ale™

    Wyeast 1007 German Ale™

    Ferments dry and crisp, leaving a complex but mild flavor. Produces an extremely rocky head and ferments well down to 55F.

Notes

Mash @ 158° for 1 hour. Variation of this is to use Perle Hallertau and Crystal hops for a crisper lager-like flavor Also Substitute zest of a lemon for 1 orange and reduce the Corriander by 1/2 oz Also fine to use wyeast 1056 for a clearer crisper version of this.

Really you have to try brewing this style, I was never really a fan of wheat but now I would say this is definitely one of my favorite summer beers.
