Ingredients (All Grain3 gal)

  • 6 lbs American 2-row

    American 2-row

    Yields a slightly higher extract than Six Rox brewers Malt. Tends to give a smoother, less grainy flavored beer. Some brewers claim they can detect a significant difference in flavor. Lower protein and will yield a lower color than Six-Row Brewers Malt

  • 1 lbs American Victory

    American Victory

    Provides a deep golden to brown color. Use in nut brown ales, IPAs and Scottish ales.

  • .25 lbs Dextrine Malt

    Dextrine Malt

    In light-colored beers to give additional body. Adds richness without color.

  • .375 lbs Crystal Malt 40°L

    Crystal Malt 40°L

    Sweet, mild caramel flavor and a golden color. Use in light lagers and light ales.

  • .5 oz Columbus - 15.4 AA% pellets; boiled 60 min

    Columbus

    Used mainly for bittering with some flavor qualities as well. Aroma is pleasant.

  • .5 oz Cascade - 6.0 AA% whole; boiled 8 min

    Spicy with citrus notes. Slightly grapefruity.

  • 2 g irish moss - (omitted from calculations)

    Wyeast 3766 Cider

    Crisp dry fermenting yeast with big, fruity finish. Creates a nice balance for all types of apples, pears and other fruit or fermentables. Allows fruit character to dominate the profile.

Notes

10 minute preboil before adding hops. Batch Sparged - yields lower extract efficiency. Low mineral content water, CaCl2 used in mash and sparge to adjust to approx. 60 ppm Calcium. Dry-hop with 1/2 oz. each of Columbus and Cascade, 1.5 weeks.
