Courage

Ok I got the courage to brew this recipe and so far the batch is coming out good. I did not factor the 10 lbs adding to the volume of the wort and when I added the cold water after brew time I only added about 1.25 gallons’ so the APV is at 8.9. The color is a little bit darker then attended but I am going to allow a good clear time for this brew. Fermentation started about 17 hours after lock. Primary will be 14 days and secondary will be 21 days and bottle time will be 14 days. The batch will be ready to drink June 13, 2007. Check back to follow up tasting because this is going to be entered in Michigan State Fair.

Change

This is a clone of Bells Two Hearted Ale and the first batch came out great but is not that close to Bells. I made two changes to this recipe; I took the extract out and made it an all grain recipe because of the color…Then lowered the boil time on the first hopping to 40 minutes. I brewed it last night and will post how it came out.
Little better

The changes I have made to this recipe turned out great. Its lighter in color, lighter in taste and a little less bitter. I tried the new brew with a slice of orange in it and WOW the flavor of the orange was a nice touch to a great brew. enjoy your tasting.
