American IPA • All Grain • 10 gal

McAnshBrewingCo

I made this beer on Saturday and am fermenting in two batches. One has Pacific Ale Yeast and the other has East Coast Ale Yeast. (Both are bubbling and frothing away happily). I'll be adding Heather to East Coast batch in secondary and whole Cascade hops to Pacific in secondary.

Ingredients (All Grain10 gal)

  • 13.0 lbs Maris Otter Pale

    Maris Otter Pale

An English thoroughbred and a favored choice of malt for many brewers. Simpsons' Maris Otter has a rich and nutty flavor and despite its small, berry size has a strong husk. This malt delivers predictable brewhouse performance with modest, yet consistent extracts. Brewers can expect good runoffs with clear wort.

  • 8.5 lbs American 2-row

    American 2-row

Yields a slightly higher extract than Six Rox brewers Malt. Tends to give a smoother, less grainy flavored beer. Some brewers claim they can detect a significant difference in flavor. Lower protein and will yield a lower color than Six-Row Brewers Malt

  • 1.0 lbs Toasted Pale Malt

    Toasted Pale Malt

Imparts nutty flavor and aroma. Use in IPAs and Scottish ales.

  • 1.50 lbs Belgian Biscuit

    Belgian Biscuit

Warm baked biscuit flavor and aroma. Increases body. Use in Belgian beers.

  • .75 lbs American Caramel 10°L

    American Caramel 10°L

This malt is light in color with a sweet caramel flavor. It is a great malt for light lagers and ales.

  • 2.0 oz Chinook - 12.1 AA% whole; boiled 60 min

    Chinook

Spicy, Medium to Heavy.Very strong bittering ability used in all American ales and lagers. Aroma is very floral.

  • 1.50 oz Vanguard - 5.3 AA% whole; boiled 15 min

    Vanguard

Still being tested and looked at by micro & craft breweries.

  • 1.00 oz Cascade - 5.1 AA% pellets; boiled 1 min

    Cascade

Spicy with citrus notes. Slightly grapefruity.

  • White Labs WLP041 Pacific Ale

    White Labs WLP041 Pacific Ale

A popular ale yeast from the Pacific Northwest. The yeast will clear from the beer well, and leave a malty profile. More fruity than WLP002, English Ale Yeast. Good yeast for English style ales including milds, bitters, IPA, porters, and English style stouts.
