Ingredients (All Grain5 gal)

  • 5 lbs German 2-row Pils

    German 2-row Pils

  • .5 lbs American Vienna

    American Vienna

    Increases malty flavor, provides balance. Use in Vienna, Märzen and Oktoberfest.

  • .5 lbs Belgian Cara-Pils

    Belgian Cara-Pils

    Significantly increases foam/head retention and body of the beer.

  • 5 lbs American 2-row

    American 2-row

    Yields a slightly higher extract than Six Rox brewers Malt. Tends to give a smoother, less grainy flavored beer. Some brewers claim they can detect a significant difference in flavor. Lower protein and will yield a lower color than Six-Row Brewers Malt

  • 2 oz Saaz - 3.7 AA% pellets; boiled 60 min

Brewed last Saturday

Made a yeast starter 3 days before brew. Doughed in 3 gallons for 132 degrees for 30 min. Added a gallon raising mash to 140 degrees 30 min. Added a gallon to raise temp to 154 degrees 30 min.

Ok... force carbonated at 13psi. It is a very good lager however it a little over the top on bitterness. It was worth the effort though. I love a good Pils.

Made it again

2007-05-06 7:46pm

I changed the yeast to Czech Pils, everything else remainded the same. I just transfered to a secondary after two weeks. Will lager for another 3 weeks before kegging. P.S. the first keg went way too fast.
