This beer has a light malt flavor and strong bitterness from the dry hopping, which also adds a nice aroma.

Ingredients (All Grain5 gal)

  • 7 lbs American 2-row

    American 2-row

    Yields a slightly higher extract than Six Rox brewers Malt. Tends to give a smoother, less grainy flavored beer. Some brewers claim they can detect a significant difference in flavor. Lower protein and will yield a lower color than Six-Row Brewers Malt

  • .5 lbs English Wheat Malt

    English Wheat Malt

    Light flavor, creamy head. For wheat beers, stouts, doppelbocks and alt beers.

  • 2 lbs Rye Malt

    Rye Malt

    Often used in German Ales and specialty beers

  • 1 lbs Crystal Malt 20°L

    Crystal Malt 20°L

    Sweet, mild caramel flavor and a golden color. Use in light lagers and light ales.

  • 1 lbs Melanoidin Malt

    Melanoidin Malt

    Red Ales

  • 2 lbs Dextrine Malt

    Dextrine Malt

    In light-colored beers to give additional body. Adds richness without color.

  • 1 oz Simcoe® - 12.0 AA% pellets; boiled 45 min

    Simcoe®

    Used for aromatic, and especially bittering properties.

  • .5 oz Amarillo® - 8.0 AA% pellets; boiled 20 min

    Amarillo®

    Grown in Washington. A newer multi-use hop with a nice citrus-flower bouquet and medium-high acid content suited for bittering. Used in American Ales and IPAs.

  • .5 oz Glacier - 8.0 AA% pellets; added dry to secondary fermenter

    Glacier

    An excellent new variety with balanced bittering properties combined with a good aroma profile.

  • .5 oz Sterling - 12.0 AA% pellets; added dry to secondary fermenter

    Sterling

    Perceived to be similar to a Saaz and Mt. Hood combination. Finding favor as a Saaz replacement.

  • Wyeast 1007 German Ale™

    Wyeast 1007 German Ale™

    Ferments dry and crisp, leaving a complex but mild flavor. Produces an extremely rocky head and ferments well down to 55F.

A fine Beer with a distinct flavor

This Beer has a really nice spicey flavor to it. Definitely a three bottle brew. The next time I brew this I will lighten up on the hops just a touch to try to bring more malt profile forward. but the dry hopping is definitely going to stay.
