I wanted a dark ale that was not bitter but had flavor. This is what I came up with.

Ingredients (All Grain5 gal)

  • 6.70 lbs English 2-row Pils

    English 2-row Pils

    Pilsner base malt.

  • 0.30 lbs Melanoidin Malt

    Melanoidin Malt

    Red Ales

  • 0.24 lbs Belgian Cara-Pils

    Belgian Cara-Pils

    Significantly increases foam/head retention and body of the beer.

  • 0.29 lbs American Chocolate Malt

    American Chocolate Malt

    Use in all types to adjust color and add nutty, toasted flavor. Chocolate flavor.

  • 2.37 lbs Corn Sugar

    Corn Sugar

    Use in priming beer or in extract recipes where flaked maize would be used in a mash.

  • 0.4 oz Cascade - 5.5 AA% pellets; boiled 60 min

    Cascade

    Spicy with citrus notes. Slightly grapefruity.

  • 0.48 oz Willamette - 5.0 AA% pellets; boiled 15 min

    This hop is used for finishing and dry hopping American and British style ales. Aroma is mild and pleasant ans slightly spicy

  • 0.50 oz Organic Hallertau - 8.0 AA% pellets; boiled 1 min

Too much chocolate malt. Overpowering roasted taste.
