This beer is my version of Alaskan Amber, it was concocted 11/12/2006 and will be brewed on 12/9/2006 for the Arid Club in Boise Idaho.

Ingredients (All Grain5 gal)

  • 9.25 lbs American 2-row

    American 2-row

    Yields a slightly higher extract than Six Rox brewers Malt. Tends to give a smoother, less grainy flavored beer. Some brewers claim they can detect a significant difference in flavor. Lower protein and will yield a lower color than Six-Row Brewers Malt

  • 1 lbs Crystal Malt 60°L

    Crystal Malt 60°L

    Sweet caramel flavor, deep golden to red color. For dark amber and brown ales.

  • 0.50 lbs Munich Malt

    Munich Malt

    Sweet, toasted flavor and aroma. For Oktoberfests and malty styles

  • 1 oz Cascade - 5.5 AA% whole; boiled 60 min

    Cascade

    Spicy with citrus notes. Slightly grapefruity.

  • 0.25 oz Spalt Spalter - 4.8 AA% whole; boiled 15 min

    Spalt Spalter

    Mild, slightly spicy. 'Noble'.

  • 0.25 oz Mt. Hood - 5.0 AA% whole; boiled 15 min

    Mt. Hood

    Used mainly for aroma and flavor in American and German style ales and lagers. Aroma is mild, pleasant, light, and clean.

  • .5 oz Spalt Spalter - 4.8 AA% whole; boiled 5 min

    Spalt Spalter

    Mild, slightly spicy. 'Noble'.

  • Wyeast 1338 European Ale™

    Wyeast 1338 European Ale™

    From Wissenschaftliche in Munich. Full-bodied complex strain finishing very malty. Produces a dense, rocky head during fermentation.

Well Balanced

Very well balanced. Color could have been a bit darker, but flavors were good. Just a bit more flavor hop would have also made this unforgettable.
