Ingredients (All Grain5 gal)

  • 30 lbs American 2-row

    American 2-row

Yields a slightly higher extract than Six Rox brewers Malt. Tends to give a smoother, less grainy flavored beer. Some brewers claim they can detect a significant difference in flavor. Lower protein and will yield a lower color than Six-Row Brewers Malt

  • 2/16 lbs Crystal Malt 40°L

    Crystal Malt 40°L

Sweet, mild caramel flavor and a golden color. Use in light lagers and light ales.

  • 4 lbs Dextrine Malt

    Dextrine Malt

In light-colored beers to give additional body. Adds richness without color.

  • 3/8 lbs British Crystal 55°L

    British Crystal 55°L

Sweet caramel flavor, adds mouthfeel and head retention. For pale or amber ales.

  • 2 lbs Barley Flaked

    Barley Flaked

Helps head retention, imparts creamy smoothness. For porters and stouts.

  • 1.375 oz Nugget - 13.0 AA% whole; boiled 60 min

    Nugget

This is very bitter and often used in medium to dark ales and lagers. Aroma is quite heavy and herbal.

  • .5 oz Cascade - 6.5 AA% whole; boiled 20 min

    Cascade

Spicy with citrus notes. Slightly grapefruity.

  • Wyeast 1728 Scottish Ale™

    Wyeast 1728 Scottish Ale™

Ideally suited for Scottish-style ales, and high gravity ales of all types.

Notes

2 single inf mashes at 152 for 90 mins with half the grain bill each, only taking the first runoff from each batch. For about 7 gallons total. 1.2 qts per pound of water. I lowered my efficiency because i am doing a no sparge brew. Ill make a smaller beer with the sparge.
