Just about to rack this one, and it tastes great. But for some reason the colour is light. More like a brown than a black, although Saddleback Brown doesn't have the same ring to it. I haven't used dark grains extensively (mainly for adding a little extra colour to bitters) so I need to work on my technique here. The recipe as detailed above is not exactly how this beer came to be. It started life as about 1/3 of my "Big Bitter", so I worked out the proportions and went from there, steeping dark grains, adding the extract and mixing them with the wort.
