American Amber Ale • All Grain • 6 gal

This is an all grain version of a beer I typicly make with extract, nice fruity smell coming from the primary, I cant waite.

Ingredients (All Grain6 gal)

  • 10 lbs American 2-row

    American 2-row

    Yields a slightly higher extract than Six Rox brewers Malt. Tends to give a smoother, less grainy flavored beer. Some brewers claim they can detect a significant difference in flavor. Lower protein and will yield a lower color than Six-Row Brewers Malt

  • 1 lbs Belgian Munich

    Belgian Munich

    Used to increase malt aroma and body with slightly more color.

  • .5 lbs Crystal Malt 80°L

    Crystal Malt 80°L

    Body and Richness. Distictive Nutty flavor and or sweet, smooth caramel flavor and a red to deep red color. For porters, old ales.

  • .5 lbs Belgian Cara-Pils

    Belgian Cara-Pils

    Significantly increases foam/head retention and body of the beer.

  • 1 oz Centennial - 10.0 AA% whole; boiled 60 min

    Centennial

    Aromatic but acceptable for bittering. Medium aroma with floral and citrus tones. Good in medium to dark ales.

  • .75 oz Cascade - 5.5 AA% whole; boiled 5 min

    Cascade

    Spicy with citrus notes. Slightly grapefruity.

  • .5 oz Centennial - 10.0 AA% whole; added dry to secondary fermenter

    Centennial

    Aromatic but acceptable for bittering. Medium aroma with floral and citrus tones. Good in medium to dark ales.

  • Wyeast 1098 British Ale™

    Wyeast 1098 British Ale™

    From Whitbread. Ferments dry and crisp, slightly tart, fruity and well-balanced. Ferments well down to 65F.

Mashed grains w/ 4gal @ 153. Boil was 90 min.

Been in the secondary for 3 days now. I think I'll let it go there for another 7 before bottleing.

This turned out really well. All my beer junkies asked for seconds and now I need to make another batch.
