Golden bitter

Special/Best/Premium Bitter • All Grain • 20 L

Mark

A hit with the IBU's brew club!. A definate quaffer, but with good hop and malt character. Hops are all FWH. My most brewed style, and my best beers.

Ingredients (All Grain20 L)

  • 2.8 kg Maris Otter Pale

    Maris Otter Pale

An English thoroughbred and a favored choice of malt for many brewers. Simpsons' Maris Otter has a rich and nutty flavor and despite its small, berry size has a strong husk. This malt delivers predictable brewhouse performance with modest, yet consistent extracts. Brewers can expect good runoffs with clear wort.

  • .14 kg British Dark Crystal

    British Dark Crystal

Sweet caramel flavor, mouthfeel. For porters, stouts, old ales and any dark ale.

  • .04 kg English Amber Malt

    English Amber Malt

Roasted malt used in British milds, old ales, brown ales, nut brown ales.

  • .18 kg English 2-row Vienna

    English 2-row Vienna

  • .35 kg White Table Sugar (Sucrose)

    White Table Sugar (Sucrose)

Common household table/baking sugar. Lightens flavor and body of beer. Can contribute a cider-like flavor to the beer if not cold-fermented or used in large quantities.

  • 40 g Challenger - 6.6 AA% pellets; boiled 20 min

    Challenger

Popular bittering hop used primarily in British ales and lagers. Mild to moderate aroma, but quite spicy.

  • 30 g East Kent Goldings - 5.6 AA% pellets; boiled 20 min

    East Kent Goldings

    Mild, slightly flowery.

  • White Labs WLP013 London Ale

    White Labs WLP013 London Ale

Dry, malty ale yeast. Provides a complex, oakey ester character to your beer. Hop bitterness comes through well. This yeast is well suited for classic British pale ales, bitters, and stouts. Does not flocculate as much as WLP002 and WLP005.

Notes

Mash at 69c. 20 min hops are fwh.
