Ingredients (All Grain5 gal)

  • 6 lbs English 2-row Pale

    English 2-row Pale

    All English Ales. Workhorse of British Brewing. Infusion Mash.

  • 3/4 lbs Crystal Malt 60°L

    Crystal Malt 60°L

    Sweet caramel flavor, deep golden to red color. For dark amber and brown ales.

  • 3/16 lbs English Black Roast

    English Black Roast

    Adds a heavy roast flavor and dark color.

  • 1/2 lbs Barley Flaked

    Barley Flaked

    Helps head retention, imparts creamy smoothness. For porters and stouts.

  • 1 3/4 lbs Light Brown Sugar

    Light Brown Sugar

    Imparts rich, sweet flavor. Use in Scottish ales, old ales and holiday beers.

  • 1 oz Pride of Ringwood - 8.5 AA% pellets; boiled 60 min

    Pride of Ringwood

    Moderate.

  • 1/2 oz Goldings - 5.0 AA% pellets; boiled 15 min

    Mild. Slightly flowery.

  • 1/2 oz Goldings - 5.0 AA% pellets; boiled 1 min

  • Wyeast 3766 Cider

    Wyeast 3766 Cider

    Crisp dry fermenting yeast with big, fruity finish. Creates a nice balance for all types of apples, pears and other fruit or fermentables. Allows fruit character to dominate the profile.

Notes

mash temp unknown as i dropped my thermometer at the crucial moment. but going on past experience, i guess at 66c for 2 3/4hrs. it's a chunky brew, but if left for 6 months will mature to an excellent ale and definately one to warm the cockles.
