This is a Zurmungy, or whatever, recipe. Brewed as a contest last year for my homebrew club. I was not a member then, but thought it sounded good.

Ingredients (Partial Mash5 gal)

  • 4 lbs American 2-row

    American 2-row

    Yields a slightly higher extract than Six Rox brewers Malt. Tends to give a smoother, less grainy flavored beer. Some brewers claim they can detect a significant difference in flavor. Lower protein and will yield a lower color than Six-Row Brewers Malt

  • .5 lbs American Caramel 60°L

    American Caramel 60°L

    Mild caramel,nutty flavor, sweet. adds color

  • .5 lbs Dextrine Malt

    Dextrine Malt

    In light-colored beers to give additional body. Adds richness without color.

  • 4 lbs Liquid Light Extract

    Liquid Light Extract

    A brewer can create any beer style with this extract when used as a base in conjunction with colored malts and selected hops. Contains no colored malts or hops.

  • 1 lbs Rice Raw

    Rice Raw

    Lightens flavor without taste. Use in American and Asian lagers.

  • 1 oz Perle - 8.2 AA% pellets; boiled 60 min

    Perle

    Used mainly for its minty bittering and good green hop aromas in all non-pilsener lagersand wheats. Aroma is pleasant and slightly spicy

  • 1 oz Cascade - 5.5 AA% pellets; boiled 30 min

    Spicy with citrus notes. Slightly grapefruity.

  • .5 oz Cascade - 5.5 AA% pellets; boiled 15 min

  • 1 oz Cascade - 5.5 AA% pellets; boiled 1 min

  • Wyeast 3766 Cider

    Wyeast 3766 Cider

    Crisp dry fermenting yeast with big, fruity finish. Creates a nice balance for all types of apples, pears and other fruit or fermentables. Allows fruit character to dominate the profile.

Notes

Two step mash, 129 for 30-45 minutes, 149-154 for 60 minutes or until iodine test show converted starches are now sugar. As always 1tsp Irish Moss the last 15 min
