Ingredients (All Grain6 gal)

  • 11 lbs English 2-row Pils

    English 2-row Pils

    Pilsner base malt.

  • 1 lbs English Chocolate Malt

    English Chocolate Malt

    Dark malt that gives a rich red or brown color and nutty flavor. Use for: Brown ales, porters, some stouts Maintains some malty flavor, not as dark as roasted malt.

  • .75 lbs British Black Patent

    British Black Patent

    Dry, burnt, chalky character. Use in porters, stouts, brown ales and dark lagers.

  • 2.25 lbs British Crystal 55°L

    British Crystal 55°L

    Sweet caramel flavor, adds mouthfeel and head retention. For pale or amber ales.

  • 1.25 lbs Acidulated Malt

    Acidulated Malt

    High lactic acid. For lambics, sour mash beers, Irish stout, pilsners and wheats.

  • .75 lbs Oats Flaked

    Oats Flaked

    Belgian White Ale(wit), other specialty beers.

  • .75 lbs Torrified Wheat

    Torrified Wheat

    Helps head retention and mouthfeel, used in some pale ales.

  • 1 oz Challenger - 8.0 AA% whole; boiled 90 min

    Challenger

    Popular bittering hop used primarily in British ales and lagers. Mild to moderate aroma, but quite spicy.

  • 1 oz East Kent Goldings - 5.0 AA% whole; boiled 15 min

    Mild, slightly flowery.

My friend called me up the other night to tell me he finally cracked one open & said it is the best stout he's ever had. I'll be up to visit in a couple weeks to finally try this. Sounds like we have a winner! * 1 lb of honey was added to the secondary.

We just did basic a single infusion mash at 152 F for 90 min. Nothing fancy.
