Ingredients (All Grain6 gal)

  • 7.84 lbs American 2-row

    American 2-row

Yields a slightly higher extract than Six Rox brewers Malt. Tends to give a smoother, less grainy flavored beer. Some brewers claim they can detect a significant difference in flavor. Lower protein and will yield a lower color than Six-Row Brewers Malt

  • 0.75 lbs Honey Malt

    Honey Malt

Nutty honey flavor. For brown ales, Belgian wheats, bocks and many other styles.

  • 0.75 lbs English 2-row Pils

    English 2-row Pils

    Pilsner base malt.

  • 1.50 lbs Corn Flaked (Maize)

    Corn Flaked (Maize)

Generally a neutral flavor, used to reduce maltiness of beer. Produces beer with a milder, less malty flavor. Uses: Primarily for light Bohemian and Pilsner lagers.

  • 2.50 lbs Rice Raw

    Rice Raw

Lightens flavor without taste. Use in American and Asian lagers.

  • .60 oz Galena - 13.0 AA% pellets; boiled 60 min

    Galena

Neutral. This hop can be very bitter, but blends well with finishing hops. Used in American ales and lagers, but suitable for all beer styles. Aroma is medium but pleasant.

  • 0.60 oz Amarillo® - 8.5 AA% pellets; boiled 1 min

    Amarillo®

Grown in Washington. A newer multi-use hop with a nice citrus-flower bouquet and medium-high acid content suited for bittering. Used in American Ales and IPAs.

  • Wyeast 2278 Czech Pils™

    Wyeast 2278 Czech Pils™

Classic pilsner strain from the home of pilsners for a dry, but malty finish. The perfect choice for pilsners and bock beers. Sulfur produced during fermentation dissipates with conditioning.

Notes

I used 2.5 lbs of basmati rice for this recipe, and I would use another pound If I made it again.....

yeast produces a strong sulfur smell for about 4-6 weeks....do not bottle this beer before the off gasing period is complete.......if aged properly this is a really good beer......raw rice is cheap and adds the same flavor as flaked rice but you need to used 3-4 times more product in each batch...I rebrewed this beer with a small ammount of oats, which added a really nice flavor to this pilsner...the bitterness is too low for some people.....but those people have much to learn about brewing beer.....a fine beer is not bludgeoned with hops, nor does it lack a distinct hop flavor...keep that in mind when brewing.....
