Tim's Cranberry Seasonal Ale

Tim's Cranberry Seasonal Ale

American Pale Ale • Extract • 1.5 gal

Tim Riggleman

This brew is has a slight reddishorange color making it different from a typical pale ale. I am a novice using a pilot brewer I received as a gift a few years back. My friends and I think this is the best brew I've made to date. It started out as an experiment to see if I could make a good beer from scratch, with little knowledge other than what ingredients that came with the gift. Happy Brewing!!!

Ingredients (Extract1.5 gal)

  • 1.65 lbs Liquid Light Extract

    Liquid Light Extract

A brewer can create any beer style with this extract when used as a base in conjunction with colored malts and selected hops. Contains no colored malts or hops.

  • 0.5 lbs White Table Sugar (Sucrose)

    White Table Sugar (Sucrose)

Common household table/baking sugar. Lightens flavor and body of beer. Can contribute a cider-like flavor to the beer if not cold-fermented or used in large quantities.

  • 0.5 oz Cascade - 6.0 AA% pellets; boiled 10 min

    Cascade

Spicy with citrus notes. Slightly grapefruity.

  • Wyeast 3766 Cider

    Wyeast 3766 Cider

Crisp dry fermenting yeast with big, fruity finish. Creates a nice balance for all types of apples, pears and other fruit or fermentables. Allows fruit character to dominate the profile.

Notes

Boiled Cranberries and 1 Navel Orange in cheese cloth for 45 minutes in 2 qts of water, adding 1 cup of sugar at the end of boil to offset tartness. Boiled 2 qts of water adding malt extract, 1 1/2 cup of cane sugar and boiled for 35 minutes. Added hops 10 minutes before end of boil.
