Ingredients (All Grain5 gal)

  • 8 lbs American 2-row

    American 2-row

    Yields a slightly higher extract than Six Rox brewers Malt. Tends to give a smoother, less grainy flavored beer. Some brewers claim they can detect a significant difference in flavor. Lower protein and will yield a lower color than Six-Row Brewers Malt

  • 1 lbs Roasted Barley

    Roasted Barley

    Sweet, grainy, coffee flavor and a red to deep brown color. For porters and stouts.

  • 0.5 lbs American Black Patent

    American Black Patent

    Provides color and sharp flavor in stouts and porters.

  • 0.5 lbs Crystal Malt 40°L

    Crystal Malt 40°L

    Sweet, mild caramel flavor and a golden color. Use in light lagers and light ales.

  • 1 lbs Barley Flaked

    Barley Flaked

    Helps head retention, imparts creamy smoothness. For porters and stouts.

  • 1 oz Northern Brewer - 6.3 AA% pellets; boiled 70 min

    Northern Brewer

    Used for bittering with strong flavors and very fragrant in steam beers, dark English ales, and German lagers. Aroma is medium-strong with evergreen and mint overtones.

    White Labs WLP001 California Ale

    This yeast is famous for its clean flavors, balance and ability to be used in almost any style ale. It accentuates the hop flavors and is extremely versatile.

Notes

M*A*S*H* -Mashed in 3 gal (11.5L) water -155-158F (68-70C) for 60 min. -Sparged to 6.5gal (25L) BOIL: T - 90 min: Started boiling T - 70 min. Hops T - 20 min. Irish moss T - 0 min: Flame off; Whirlpool. -Cooled, aerated, and pitched 2L of rehydrated Coopers yeast (2 packs).
