Ingredients (All Grain10 gal)

  • 15 lbs English 2-row Pale

    English 2-row Pale

    All English Ales. Workhorse of British Brewing. Infusion Mash.

  • 2 lbs Crystal Malt 40°L

    Crystal Malt 40°L

    Sweet, mild caramel flavor and a golden color. Use in light lagers and light ales.

  • 2 lbs Crystal Malt 60°L

    Crystal Malt 60°L

    Sweet caramel flavor, deep golden to red color. For dark amber and brown ales.

  • 1 lbs Belgian Cara-Pils

    Belgian Cara-Pils

    Significantly increases foam/head retention and body of the beer.

  • 2 oz Cascade - 5.7 AA% pellets; boiled 60 min

    Cascade

    Spicy with citrus notes. Slightly grapefruity.

  • .67 oz Chinook - 12.9 AA% pellets; boiled 30 min

    Chinook

    Spicy, Medium to Heavy.Very strong bittering ability used in all American ales and lagers. Aroma is very floral.

  • 2 oz Saaz - 5.2 AA% pellets; boiled 15 min

    Saaz

    Used for finishing pilseners, continental lagers, and wheats. The aroma is spicy and pleasant with fragrant overtones.

  • 1 tsp Irish Moss (30 minutes) - (omitted from calculations)

    This yeast is famous for its clean flavors, balance and ability to be used in almost any style ale. It accentuates the hop flavors and is extremely versatile.

Notes

Actually used 4 lbs. of crystal malt 50 instead of the 40 and 60, but was not available in dropdown list. Initial mash was too hot (175) and we had trouble controlling temperature. Finished it off at 155. O.G. was 1.050 on 6/27/05. S.G. was 1.023 on 7/5/05.
