Ingredients (All Grain10 gal)

  • 20 lbs American 2-row

    American 2-row

Yields a slightly higher extract than Six Rox brewers Malt. Tends to give a smoother, less grainy flavored beer. Some brewers claim they can detect a significant difference in flavor. Lower protein and will yield a lower color than Six-Row Brewers Malt

  • 2 lbs Oats Raw

    Oats Raw

Adds body, mouth feel and head retention to the beer Creates chill haze in lighter beers, so is primarily used in dark ones.

  • 1.25 oz Magnum - 11.1 AA% pellets; boiled 60 min

    Magnum

Bred in 1980 at Germany’s Hüll Hop Research Center, this high-alpha variety is renowned for its exceptionally large, heavy cones. Hallertauer Magnum delivers excellent yields and, like many Hüll-developed hops, boasts a strong resistance to disease.

  • .75 oz Cascade - 4.9 AA% pellets; boiled 30 min

    Cascade

Spicy with citrus notes. Slightly grapefruity.

  • 5 oz Cascade - 4.9 AA% pellets; boiled 5 min

    Cascade

Spicy with citrus notes. Slightly grapefruity.

  • White Labs WLP001 California Ale

    White Labs WLP001 California Ale

This yeast is famous for its clean flavors, balance and ability to be used in almost any style ale. It accentuates the hop flavors and is extremely versatile.

Notes

Mash 10 min at 138-140 degrees, pull decoction (1/3 volume) and boil 30 min. When you put it back into the mash it raises mash temp to about 153. Mash 2 hours total. I use 1.5 tbs 5.1 stabilizer in the mash. Use 1 whirfloc tab or 1 tsp irish moss * Optional 2 pounds oats are optional. I just tried this with my last batch and it's still fermenting. It's very good without! FWH with .75 oz cascade whole * optional
