  • 0.5 lbs Australian Wheat Malt

    Malted wheat for use in Wheat beers.

  • 0.5 lbs Crystal Malt 80°L

    Crystal Malt 80°L

    Body and Richness. Distictive Nutty flavor and or sweet, smooth caramel flavor and a red to deep red color. For porters, old ales.

  • 12 lbs American 2-row

    American 2-row

    Yields a slightly higher extract than Six Rox brewers Malt. Tends to give a smoother, less grainy flavored beer. Some brewers claim they can detect a significant difference in flavor. Lower protein and will yield a lower color than Six-Row Brewers Malt

  • .5 oz Admiral - 11.0 AA% pellets; boiled 60 min

    Admiral hops are known for their high acid content, delivering a bold yet smooth bitterness. They showcase notes of orange citrus and herbal undertones, making them an excellent choice for crafting more bitter Pale Ales and ESBs.

  • .25 oz Cascade - 6.6 AA% whole; boiled 60 min

    Spicy with citrus notes. Slightly grapefruity.

  • .5 oz Cascade - 6.6 AA% whole; boiled 30 min

Notes

Actually used Horizon instead of Admiral. Dry hopped for weeks in secondary. Slightly high C02 in bottle. Scored 33.5 in April 2005 Club Competition, with BJCP Judges.

Continuing to revise

I have brewed this beer several times. I made changes to the hops & tinkered with the grain profile also. I have returned to this original recipe to brew a double batch. I'm sure I will continue to evolve this brew, but I'm still happy with this one.

Yes, I keep brewing this one. Its consitantly good, especially since I have improved my Mash effiency over the years.
