Ingredients (Extract5 gal)

  • 1/4 lbs Crystal Malt 60°L

    Crystal Malt 60°L

    Sweet caramel flavor, deep golden to red color. For dark amber and brown ales.

  • 3/4 lbs Roasted Barley

    Roasted Barley

    Sweet, grainy, coffee flavor and a red to deep brown color. For porters and stouts.

  • 3 lbs Dry Light Extract

    Dry Light Extract

    White color, mild flavor. Will produce lagers and Pilseners and can also be used to produce darker beers when used in conjunction with colored malts. Made of pale malt.

  • 3.3 lbs Liquid Light Extract

    Liquid Light Extract

    A brewer can create any beer style with this extract when used as a base in conjunction with colored malts and selected hops. Contains no colored malts or hops.

  • 1/4 lbs Barley Flaked

    Barley Flaked

    Helps head retention, imparts creamy smoothness. For porters and stouts.

  • 1 oz Target - 9.5 AA% pellets; boiled 45 min

    Used for its robust bittering ability in British ales and lagers. Aroma is quite intense.

  • 1/2 oz East Kent Goldings - 4.4 AA% pellets; boiled 45 min

good but ......

this recipe is a good one but i would go a bit lower on the roasted barley like a 1/4 or 1/3 at most for my taste. i seemed to overpower the brew and ended up tasting more like a coffee stout (without the caffiene :-( )
