Ingredients (All Grain5 gal)

  • 3 lbs American 6-row Pale

    American 6-row Pale

Tends to increase lautering efficiency due to a stiffer husk. May be used as the base malt for any beer style. The enzymes in all varieties of the current crop are sufficient to support high percentages of specialty malts and adjuncts.

  • 3 lbs American Vienna

    American Vienna

Increases malty flavor, provides balance. Use in Vienna, Märzen and Oktoberfest.

  • 11/16 lbs Crystal Malt 60°L

    Crystal Malt 60°L

Sweet caramel flavor, deep golden to red color. For dark amber and brown ales.

  • .046875 lbs Black Roasted Barley

    Black Roasted Barley

Unmalted roasted grain, it is the backbone of many stouts. Imparts a sharp acrid flavor characteristic of dry stouts. Gives "dryness" to a stout or porter ,more so than regular Roasted Barley.

  • 2 11/16 lbs Corn Flaked (Maize)

    Corn Flaked (Maize)

Generally a neutral flavor, used to reduce maltiness of beer. Produces beer with a milder, less malty flavor. Uses: Primarily for light Bohemian and Pilsner lagers.

  • 3/8 oz Nugget - 13.0 AA% whole; boiled 60 min

    Nugget

This is very bitter and often used in medium to dark ales and lagers. Aroma is quite heavy and herbal.

  • White Labs WLP840 American Lager

    White Labs WLP840 American Lager

This yeast is used to produce American style lagers. Dry and clean with a very slight apple fruitiness. Sulfur and diacetyl production is minimal.

Notes

.046875 lb = .75 ounce Mash at 152F for 60min. Sparge to 7 gallons. 90 minute boil, adding hops for last 60 minutes.

OK, not bad

Not quite Shiner Bock, but not bad. Also, .09375 lbs of Roasted Barley is 1.5oz, not .75 oz. I didn't realize this until after brewing, had to add Sinamar before kegging.
