XenoDuff Uncle Bunny's Hop IPA

XenoDuff Uncle Bunny's Hop IPA

English IPA • All Grain • 9 gal

DuffBeer

Too much grains, too little water, adds to the color, but should be a hoppy beer...the cascades are put in 1 oz 10 min. and 1 oz 1 min. Ended up pretty good...the California V Ale Yeast ended up making a tastier beer...but both were good.

Ingredients (All Grain9 gal)

  • 6.6 lbs Maris Otter Pale

    Maris Otter Pale

An English thoroughbred and a favored choice of malt for many brewers. Simpsons' Maris Otter has a rich and nutty flavor and despite its small, berry size has a strong husk. This malt delivers predictable brewhouse performance with modest, yet consistent extracts. Brewers can expect good runoffs with clear wort.

  • 10 lbs German Wheat Malt Light

    German Wheat Malt Light

Typical top fermented aroma, produces superb wheat beers.

  • 2 lbs Crystal Malt 60°L

    Crystal Malt 60°L

Sweet caramel flavor, deep golden to red color. For dark amber and brown ales.

  • 2 lbs Toasted Pale Malt

    Toasted Pale Malt

Imparts nutty flavor and aroma. Use in IPAs and Scottish ales.

  • 2 lbs Honey

    Honey

Imparts sweet and dry taste. For honey and brown ales. Also: specialty ales.

  • 2 oz Tettnanger - 4.5 AA% pellets; boiled 60 min

    Tettnanger

    Mild, slightly spicy. 'Noble'.

  • 2 oz Centennial - 10.0 AA% pellets; boiled 30 min

    Centennial

Aromatic but acceptable for bittering. Medium aroma with floral and citrus tones. Good in medium to dark ales.

  • 4 oz Cascade - 5.5 AA% pellets; boiled 10 min

    Cascade

Spicy with citrus notes. Slightly grapefruity.

  • White Labs WLP001 California Ale

    White Labs WLP001 California Ale

This yeast is famous for its clean flavors, balance and ability to be used in almost any style ale. It accentuates the hop flavors and is extremely versatile.

Notes

We ended up brewing two batches ...5 gallon of the WLP001 California Ale Yeast...and 4 of the California Ale V Yeast....the latter turning out much fruitier and lighter in mouthfeel (better tasting to me) For the crystal malt we combined about 1 lb 85 degree with 50 degree or something similar to get a close enough to 60 degree rating
