Dry Stout • All Grain • 5 gal

This turned out to be a nice stout, a real nice mild stout flavour. One note, originaly pitced one monthe out dated white english ale yeast however after noticing no activity after 36 hours pitched one pakage of rehydrated nottingham. took right off.

  • 7.75 lbs American 2-row

    American 2-row

    Yields a slightly higher extract than Six Rox brewers Malt. Tends to give a smoother, less grainy flavored beer. Some brewers claim they can detect a significant difference in flavor. Lower protein and will yield a lower color than Six-Row Brewers Malt

  • 1.1 lbs British Black Patent

    British Black Patent

    Dry, burnt, chalky character. Use in porters, stouts, brown ales and dark lagers.

  • 1.1 lbs American Caramel 80°L

    American Caramel 80°L

    Mild caramel,nutty flavor, sweet. adds color(Red Ale)

  • 1.1 lbs English Chocolate Malt

    English Chocolate Malt

    Dark malt that gives a rich red or brown color and nutty flavor. Use for: Brown ales, porters, some stouts Maintains some malty flavor, not as dark as roasted malt.

  • 1 lbs Oats Flaked

    Oats Flaked

    Belgian White Ale(wit), other specialty beers.

  • 1.5 oz Northern Brewer - 8.0 AA% whole; boiled 90 min

    Northern Brewer

    Used for bittering with strong flavors and very fragrant in steam beers, dark English ales, and German lagers. Aroma is medium-strong with evergreen and mint overtones.

  • 1.5 oz Fuggle - 4.8 AA% whole; boiled 20 min

    Fuggle

    Mild. Mainly used for finishing and dry hopping especially pale ales, porters, and stouts. Aroma is mild and pleasant, spicy, and soft.

  • Lallemand 3767 Nottingham

    Lallemand 3767 Nottingham

    Low concentrations of fruity and estery aromas. Neutral for Ale yeast, allowing for malty profile.
