The first for 2005 with some minor changes from the last 4 batches made. Trying the Wyeast this time.

Ingredients (All Grain22 L)

  • 5 kg Australian Pilsner

    Australian Pilsner

    Well modified, good attenuation.

  • .25 kg Dextrine Malt

    Dextrine Malt

    In light-colored beers to give additional body. Adds richness without color.

  • .1 kg Caramel Wheat Malt

    Caramel Wheat Malt

    For dark ales, hefeweizen, dunkelweizen, wheat bocks and double bocks.

  • 20 g Perle - 7.0 AA% pellets; boiled 70 min

    Perle

    Used mainly for its minty bittering and good green hop aromas in all non-pilsener lagersand wheats. Aroma is pleasant and slightly spicy

  • 25 g Czech Saaz - 4.0 AA% pellets; boiled 70 min

    Czech Saaz

    Very mild. 'Noble'.

  • 20 g Czech Saaz - 4.0 AA% pellets; boiled 40 min

    Czech Saaz

    Very mild. 'Noble'.

  • 10 g Czech Saaz - 4.0 AA% pellets; boiled 15 min

    Czech Saaz

    Very mild. 'Noble'.

  • 20 g Czech Saaz - 4.0 AA% pellets; boiled 1 min

    Very mild. 'Noble'.

  • 12 g Hersbrucker - 4.0 AA% pellets; added dry to secondary fermenter

    Hersbrucker

    Drier, spicier than Hallertauer. Most important aroma variety in Germany.

  • Wyeast 2124 Bohemian Lager™

    Wyeast 2124 Bohemian Lager™

    A pilsner yeast from the Weihenstephen. Ferments clean and malty, with rich residual maltiness in full gravity pilsners.

Notes

Single decoction mash. The 40 minute hops are FWH. Dry hopped in secondary. The CaraWheat will add that little extra colour that PU gets out of their decoction mash
