Ingredients (Extract5 gal)

  • 1/2 lbs Crystal Malt 60°L

    Crystal Malt 60°L

    Sweet caramel flavor, deep golden to red color. For dark amber and brown ales.

  • 3.3 lbs Amber; John Bull

    Amber; John Bull

    For ales and bitters.

  • 4 lbs Dry Amber; Muntons

    Dry Amber; Muntons

    Used predominantly in the production of medium-colored beers such as pale ales, IPAs, and bitters.

  • 1 oz Target - 8.0 AA% pellets; boiled 60 min

    Target

    Used for its robust bittering ability in British ales and lagers. Aroma is quite intense.

  • 1 oz Fuggle - 5.1 AA% pellets; boiled 30 min

    Fuggle

    Mild. Mainly used for finishing and dry hopping especially pale ales, porters, and stouts. Aroma is mild and pleasant, spicy, and soft.

  • 1 oz East Kent Goldings - 4.6 AA% pellets; boiled 15 min

    Mild, slightly flowery.

  • 1 oz Cascade - 5.4 AA% pellets; boiled 2 min

    Spicy with citrus notes. Slightly grapefruity.

Stranglehold Bitter S.T.A. Stronger than Average. Added note: This beer is better if left to age for at least 3 months at celler tempeture. Aged in the bottle of course. It mellows the hop "bite" that characterizes this extreme beer. One day I will make this again with some slight changes to the hops and try to make it even stronger tasting.
