There are few beers that I clone. I clone Pilsner Urquelle so that I can try something that represents a fresh version of the classic. I believe that the ones that I find locally, Lincoln Nebraska, are way past their prime.

Ingredients (All Grain6.5 gal)

  • 10 lbs Moravian Well-Modified Pale

    Moravian Well-Modified Pale

    Suitable for ales or lagers. It can be used with a single temperature infusion mash schedule.

  • 2 lbs German 2-row Pils

    German 2-row Pils

  • 1 lbs American Vienna

    American Vienna

    Increases malty flavor, provides balance. Use in Vienna, Märzen and Oktoberfest.

  • 1.5 oz Czech Saaz - 3.5 AA% whole; boiled 60 min

    Czech Saaz

    Very mild. 'Noble'.

  • .5 oz Czech Saaz - 3.5 AA% whole; boiled 40 min

    Czech Saaz

    Very mild. 'Noble'.

  • .5 oz Czech Saaz - 3.5 AA% whole; boiled 30 min

    Czech Saaz

    Very mild. 'Noble'.

  • .5 oz Czech Saaz - 3.5 AA% whole; boiled 20 min

    Czech Saaz

    Very mild. 'Noble'.

  • .5 oz Czech Saaz - 3.5 AA% whole; boiled 15 min

    Very mild. 'Noble'.

  • White Labs WLP800 Pilsner Lager

    White Labs WLP800 Pilsner Lager

    Classic pilsner strain from the premier pilsner producer in the Czech Republic. Somewhat dry with a malty finish, this yeast is best suited for European pilsner production.

I have another recipe for a Urquelle clone in the library, but this is the one that I actually brewed. ALSO NOTE: I used the following hop additions that do not appear in the body of the recipe .5 oz Saaz 10 min .5 oz Saaz 5 min
