O.I.B.C. Oatmeal Stout

O.I.B.C. Oatmeal Stout

Oatmeal Stout • All Grain • 5 gal

bklmt2000

My first attempt at all-grain brewing. Racked to secondary today, and it tasted fantastic, kind of a coffee/chocolate/oatmeal flavor. I will definitely brew this again!!

Ingredients (All Grain5 gal)

  • 8 lbs American 2-row

    American 2-row

Yields a slightly higher extract than Six Rox brewers Malt. Tends to give a smoother, less grainy flavored beer. Some brewers claim they can detect a significant difference in flavor. Lower protein and will yield a lower color than Six-Row Brewers Malt

  • 1 lbs Crystal Malt 60°L

    Crystal Malt 60°L

Sweet caramel flavor, deep golden to red color. For dark amber and brown ales.

  • .75 lbs English Chocolate Malt

    English Chocolate Malt

Dark malt that gives a rich red or brown color and nutty flavor. Use for: Brown ales, porters, some stouts Maintains some malty flavor, not as dark as roasted malt.

  • .25 lbs Roasted Barley

    Roasted Barley

Sweet, grainy, coffee flavor and a red to deep brown color. For porters and stouts.

  • 1 lbs Oats Flaked

    Oats Flaked

Belgian White Ale(wit), other specialty beers.

  • 1 oz Bullion - 7.9 AA% pellets; boiled 50 min

    Bullion

    Neutral. Not highly regarded.

  • White Labs WLP013 London Ale

    White Labs WLP013 London Ale

Dry, malty ale yeast. Provides a complex, oakey ester character to your beer. Hop bitterness comes through well. This yeast is well suited for classic British pale ales, bitters, and stouts. Does not flocculate as much as WLP002 and WLP005.
