Ingredients (All Grain5.5 gal)

  • 8 lbs American 2-row

    American 2-row

    Yields a slightly higher extract than Six Rox brewers Malt. Tends to give a smoother, less grainy flavored beer. Some brewers claim they can detect a significant difference in flavor. Lower protein and will yield a lower color than Six-Row Brewers Malt

  • 3 lbs Rice Syrup

    Rice Syrup

    Used like other rice adjuncts in American and Japenes lagers to provide a dry, clean taste and light body. Adds gravity without changing body or flavor substantially. Use in place of corn sugar in small quantities.

  • .75 oz Tettnanger - 4.5 AA% whole; boiled 60 min

    Mild, slightly spicy. 'Noble'.

  • .50 oz Czech Saaz - 5.0 AA% whole; boiled 15 min

    Czech Saaz

    Very mild. 'Noble'.

  • .25 oz Czech Saaz - 5.0 AA% whole; boiled 1 min

    Very mild. 'Noble'.

  • 1 tsp Irish Moss - (omitted from calculations)

    White Labs WLP840 American Lager

    This yeast is used to produce American style lagers. Dry and clean with a very slight apple fruitiness. Sulfur and diacetyl production is minimal.

Notes

Strike to and rest at 133F for 30 mins, then decoct 1/3 of the grains and rest again for 90 mins. Sparge and boil as normal. Add beech wood strips to secondary and lager at 34f for 3 months.
