Ingredients (Extract5 gal)

  • 1.25 lbs Crystal Malt 20°L

    Crystal Malt 20°L

    Sweet, mild caramel flavor and a golden color. Use in light lagers and light ales.

  • 1.0 lbs American 2-row

    American 2-row

    Yields a slightly higher extract than Six Rox brewers Malt. Tends to give a smoother, less grainy flavored beer. Some brewers claim they can detect a significant difference in flavor. Lower protein and will yield a lower color than Six-Row Brewers Malt

  • 7.0 lbs Dry Amber Extract

    Dry Amber Extract

    Cream-colored and full-flavored; will produce amber colored beers such as pale ales, IPAs, and bitters. Made of pale and crystal malts.

  • 1.25 oz Chinook - 10.3 AA% pellets; boiled 60 min

    Chinook

    Spicy, Medium to Heavy.Very strong bittering ability used in all American ales and lagers. Aroma is very floral.

  • 1.0 oz Cascade - 5.5 AA% pellets; boiled 15 min

    Cascade

    Spicy with citrus notes. Slightly grapefruity.

  • 1.0 oz Centennial - 8.0 AA% pellets; boiled 1 min

    Centennial

    Aromatic but acceptable for bittering. Medium aroma with floral and citrus tones. Good in medium to dark ales.

  • 1 tsp Irish Moss - (omitted from calculations)

  • Wyeast 1056 American Ale™

    Wyeast 1056 American Ale™

    Used commercially for several classic American ales. This strain ferments dry, finishes soft, smooth and dean, and is very well balanced.

Notes

Steep grains at 154 for 45 minutes. Sparge w/ 1 gallon 150 degree water.
