Westcoast Wetbier

Westcoast Wetbier

Dark American Lager • All Grain • 18.93 L

sdalejohnson

A nice, light but interesting dark copper lager. Great hop and honey complexity but still balanced. Designed as an APL, but more like a german style American Dark Lager so I have changed the class.

Notes

designed around a simple single infusion AT 67c and A batch sparge so efficiency is set low. When brewed with rests at 40C, 60C and 70C for 30 min, efficiency was about 75%. One of a few experiments to try some different ideas on a simple house lager. Mount hood hops are home grown, and not sure on AA rating. I have also brewed this one with Gambrinus Pale 2 row with good results, and substituted equivalent AAU of Northern Brewer as the bittering hops (about 1/2 oz) with good results. 1 minute hops are added to the mash, not to boil but the bittering effect is similar.
