Notes

I'm brewing this in anticipation a big pig roast coming up in June. I bittered with Magnum hops (not available on this site, but I chose Columbus with similar AA for display). I'm told that Magnum has a very low cohumulone level, which allows you to use more of this variety while maintaining a very smooth bitter base. So that's why the IBU's look to be off the chart. I'm told that is normal with Magnum and all should be well - we'll see. Brew process was silky smooth, OG was 1.048 and color was light as anticipated with CM 20 L (actally 15 L from my supply store). I tried a new method of wort chilling this time. Filled a cooler 1/4 with cold water, placed the brew kettle in the cooler and packed in ice, then ran cold water around the outside of the kettle while keeping the cooler drain plug open to let the hot water run off. Worked rather quickly, think I'll try this next time - beats spending $$$ on a real chiller!
